Mitsubishi launches revived Ralliart models

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) recently launched the Triton Ralliart and the Pajero Sport Ralliart as special editions in Thailand. However, Mitsubishi New Zealand is waiting for more substantial updates.

Ralliart is MMC’s famous brand that has improved the style and driving performance of Mitsubishi vehicles through its participation in the World Rally Championship and the Dakar Rally over the years. The revived Ralliart brand comprises three aesthetic changes for the Pajero Sport and Triton, rather than standing out from the crowd with a hot Triton ute to battle the Toyota Hilux Mako and Ford Ranger Raptor.

The new Ralliart models are equipped with unique accessories, including iconic decals with red, silver and black stripes and branded mud flaps. The black front grille and alloy wheels differentiate it from the historic trim. There are also floor mats with the Ralliart logo and red-accent overlocks. Instead of the more powerful four-wheel-drive versions, the Thailand-limited packages are only available on rear-wheel Triton or Pajero Sport.

Triton Ralliart

The Triton Ralliart is developed on the low-rider version of the Triton Club Cab and Double Cab. Improving the dynamic and energetic styling of the Triton, the exceptional release is outfitted with a unique front bumper garnish, black door mirrors, black door handles, black rear gate handle and bed liner with the Ralliart logo.

Two exterior colour options are available: a two-tone exterior with a Solid White body and a Black roof, and Jet Black Mica.

Pajero Sport Ralliart

Enhancing a sporty touch on top of Pajero Sport’s classic styling, the Pajero Sport Ralliart features darkened bi-LED headlights, plus a black rear spoiler, black roof rails and black shark fin antenna.

Two exterior colour options are available: a two-tone exterior with a White Diamond body and a Black roof, and Jet Black Mica.

Although more details about the new Ralliart models are lacking, reports from Japan suggest Mitsubishi will offer performance parts and accessories and get back into motorsport with Ralliart. There’s still an opportunity that Mitsubishi will bring Ralliart back with a refined performance model at a later stage.

Mitsubishi New Zealand is currently reviewing the market opportunity and possibility of future Ralliart developments. They are working with the head office in Japan to figure out timings and roll-out plans.

Steve Hammond, GM Christchurch Mitsubishi said “While these vehicles are not confirmed for the New Zealand market, it’s great to see the return of a much loved brand”.
